The BCA asked the YSS to rig some caves for their upcoming AGM. Damian selected Ireby fell, Swinsto and Alum Pot to pre-rig. I volunteered to help.
We met at 9am at the club, light rain was forecast until early afternoon.
Damian offered to show me some rigging techniques. Oxford uni were using the SRT Room, so we headed down to “tackle store pot” where multiple routes were rigged off various pegs, hooks, hangers etc. The frogs enjoyed our company and sat watching the activity bemused.
Mid-day we reassessed the weather and felt we were good to go off to Mason Gill.
We parked up, got changed, then headed up to the entrance into Ireby Fell. There was a lot of water in there, but it did not stop us from getting the cave rigged down to Duke Street, where we turned to head out.
We sat on our plastic bags in the car and headed off to cave number 2 - Swinsto..
