Brown Hill Pot - Monday, 26th May
Party: Fiona & Damian Weare

This trip started life as a topo trip to Hensler’s Pot. We were already a bit sceptical about completing it with only 2 of us and this, combined with meeting Keith on Sunday evening who said it was already rigged for the Winch Meet, was almost enough to put us off. When Fiona awoke on Monday morning not feeling very well, the decision was made … Hensler’s would have to wait.

A few years ago my only previous trip to Brown Hill had been thwarted by the other person in my party having a bad day, and I’ve been wanting to return for ages. Fiona seemed happy with anything that wasn’t Hensler’s, so we packed the ropes and set off.

Fiona seemed to lack all enthusiasm while changing and then looked even worse during the walk to the entrance. Just short of the first pitch, we decided it was time to leave and, to add insult to injury, while exiting Fiona cut her hand on the oil drums lining the entrance. My second trip to Brown Hill thwarted.

Since it was such a nice day, and I hadn’t been for a while, I popped into Yordas and went down the flood route on the Chapter House Pitch … satisfying.

About

There are many club organised caving weekends, with a mixture of easy and difficult caving.  Over the past few years we have given lots of people the opportunity to experience caving with our "Try Caving" events.  These are quite popular and quite a few people have subsequently joined the club. We have YSS members caving most weekends so it is easy for new cavers to tag onto the easier caving trips and find people to help with more training.
