We are proud

At the YSS we take great pride in our club and the history we have formed since being founded in 1964. Building from a small Ponterfract based club to a major Dales club with our own facilities.
We are equally proud of our facilities and the improvements we have made - you will find these are second to none in the Yorkshire Dales and ideal for outdoor activities.

04 Jan 2026 Tatham Wife Hole - A pleasant SRT trip with a fair amount of caving

17 Jan 2026 Short Drop / Gavel Pot - An easy SRT trip until the final pitches with some well decorated passage

18 Jan 2026 Turbury Pot - Potential SRT through trip joining Swinsto part way down

31 Jan 2026 Washfold Pot - Described in the black book as "a clean and uncomplicated evening trip"

01 Feb 2026 Heron Pot - A short SRT trip which is a potential through trip. Check the exit before committing to it!

About

There are many club organised caving weekends, with a mixture of easy and difficult caving. Over the past few years we have given lots of people the opportunity to experience caving with our "Try Caving" events. These are quite popular and quite a few people have subsequently joined the club. We have YSS members caving most weekends so it is easy for new cavers to tag onto the easier caving trips and find people to help with more training.
