To avoid another long walk in the freezing weather, we changed the Sunday trip to Scanty Lardos.
With most of the water in the dales locked in snow and ice, we expected a relatively dry crawl along Ann Summers passage.
When we got to the cave, the stream was dry and the entrance pitch was only slightly drippy.
At the bottom of the entrance pitches there was the sound of a waterfall from upstream but there was not much flow in Ann Summers.
After the initial section of climbing over boulders and crawling in cold water, the passage became more pleasant with some sections of stooping.
It is an excellent joint controlled passage all the way to the second pitch. Fran rigged the second pitch.
It was only a short walk to the third pitch, where rigging duties got passed to me for the slightly exposed take off.
After the third pitch there was a duck under a flake to the final chamber with only a dig and a short climb as the ways on.
I did notice an alternative route from the head of the final pitch but did not push it.
Lukas volunteered to derig, so Ros, Fran & I left him with Stu as a sherpa for the second bag.
Team: Fran, Ros, Stu, Lukas & Dave.
Time: Just over 2 hours.
