The previous day we had talked about where to go caving on Sunday and ended with the suggestion of Rumbling Hole.
By Sunday, the weather forecast had deteriorated and Ros was less than keen on the shower at the end of the first pitch.
The trip was rapidly changed to Aquamole. This can get a bit drippy on the first pitch but is unlikely to flood. Another reason for the cave selection was that Damian had not done it "post Sophie" and had not done the alternate route.
With 3 bags packed, we headed over to the cave. I started the rigging. This was made more interesting by having two bags (one being my safety kit) hung under me and parallel rigging the in-situ ropes.
Everyone coped well with the knitting (including Damian who also had two bags).
At the bottom of the entrance series, I moved my safety kit into the second bag and took that along the crawl. As ever the crawl was longer that I remembered.
I rigged my way through the second bag, ending after the short up pitch to the alternate route.
At this point Damian took over the rigging duties.
The first of the alternate pitches was easily rigged on resin anchors. The final alternate route pitch is more interesting as it could really do with a line down to the pitch head. Damian rigged the line on naturals and we all followed to the take off point for the final 11m drop.
Ros decided not to descend the final pitch, so we were soon heading out dragging heavy bags of (now) wet rope up the pitches.
Team: Sophie, Ros, Damian & Dave.
