Another chilly weekend for the AGM with plans to do several routes in Alum Pot. Having paid our dues at the farm, we parked in the lane, changed and headed up to the cave.
Damian rigged the South East route down to the level of the bridge, the rising traverse to the bridge and then the bottom of Alum Pot using a route to the south of the bridge. He also rigged the normal route down towards the Diccan sump.
Matt rigged North West route. This is a single drop to bottom of Alum Pot, leaving just the final pitch to the Diccan sump.
I rigged Dolly Tubs, the Greasy Slab alternative, the traverse, the bridge and the pitch to the north of the bridge. I also rigged the alternative pitch down towrdas Diccan sump.
Everyone descended to the bottom of Alum Pot and most went down to the sump.
Having all done enough swinging on string, we headed out with various people derigging.
Some people went up the Long Churns while others went straight back to the cars.
We didn't even leave anyone in the cave!

Team: Aaron, Ade, Andy, Andy, Damian, Dave, Gareth, James, Keith, Klaudia, Lukas, Lukasz, Martin, Matt & Paul
Time: Probably about 4 hours.

About

There are many club organised caving weekends, with a mixture of easy and difficult caving.  Over the past few years we have given lots of people the opportunity to experience caving with our "Try Caving" events.  These are quite popular and quite a few people have subsequently joined the club. We have YSS members caving most weekends so it is easy for new cavers to tag onto the easier caving trips and find people to help with more training.
