It was busy up at Gaping Gill with cavers going everywhere.
I decided that we should do a fairly basic trip to avoid as much of the congestion as possible.
Setting a call out for 18:10 for a simple through trip from Stream Passage Pot to Flood (via Wades) seemed a bit excessive.
Progress was slow with a lot of people going down and a few coming up. Having got to the bottom of the rope, things sped up a bit.
We passed Bean, Keith, Phil & some others from Wessex coming the other way (to further slow the flow of cavers coming down Stream Passage Pot).
Soon we were in main chamber admiring the waterfalls. Bernice managed to wangle a trip out on the winch. The rest of us did not spend long in main chamber before heading out to the bottom of Flood entrance.
I went out of Flood with Charlotte & Rhuarhy. James & Matt went out of Small Mammal via South East Aven.
I got to the surface last at about 18:05. Fortunately Ros, who had walked up with us but decided not to cave, had already stood down our call-out realising it was congested underground and taken responsibility, then met us as we left the cave.

Team: Bernice, Charlotte, James, Matt, Rhuarhy & Dave.

About

There are many club organised caving weekends, with a mixture of easy and difficult caving.  Over the past few years we have given lots of people the opportunity to experience caving with our "Try Caving" events.  These are quite popular and quite a few people have subsequently joined the club. We have YSS members caving most weekends so it is easy for new cavers to tag onto the easier caving trips and find people to help with more training.
