Decided to join the diggers for the Grand Day Out, but as things go, maybe it should have been called the Grand Weekend Out.
This was due to Paul and Myself becoming trapped the wrong side of the sump, when it filled back up. So had no choice but to sit it out for 16 hours and wait for CRO.
When they arrived at 7 oclock Sun morn, apparantly they had been busy getting people out of other caves, including the rest of the Ireby crew.
It seemed the best way was to dive out, so this done we were fed and watered, then made our way out the cave.
Big thanks to the Divers and the rest of the CRO crew.
Trip time 23hrs
Paul Thomas, Keith Mason

I know the YSS have recently donated some money to the CRO - but I didn't realise that this was in the expectation of using their services!

Pleased your OK Keith and made it out safe and sound! How on earth did you entertain your selves for 16 hours... or is that between you and Paul

Pleased your alright.

Shall have to raise some more money for CRO now!

Jeepers. Be Safe!

Blimey, the CRO estimate 1120 hours of volunteer involvement in the rescue at Ireby!

About

There are many club organised caving weekends, with a mixture of easy and difficult caving.  Over the past few years we have given lots of people the opportunity to experience caving with our "Try Caving" events.  These are quite popular and quite a few people have subsequently joined the club. We have YSS members caving most weekends so it is easy for new cavers to tag onto the easier caving trips and find people to help with more training.
