After a hearty breakfast in Inglesport we headed up onto Leck Fell to see if we would be able to use our permit for LJ's, pulling up at the gate before the car park I went and had a quick look at the entrance. Water levels were looking good so we carried on to the car park and set about getting changed and sorting ropes out. Once sorted we headed off to the entrance, once inside the cave the streamway was sporting but not dangerous and we made our way into the New Roof Traverse as we had opted for Cathedral route, Gary and Alex opted to turn round at the bottom of cathedral whilst the rest of us carried on. As we got closer to Battle-axe Traverse we could hear the roar of water in the distance, as we started rigging the traverse you could see the water thundering along below us. A few of us dropped Valalah but after seeing the streamway in full flow lower down we decided to turn round and make our way out. Just to add a little more to the trip we decided to drop down Dome Pitch so we could carry on and make our way to Sink Chamber to have a look at the very impressive Waterfall coming down from the Wet Route, at this point all that was left was to turn around and head out.
Trip time 5hrs15
Susan Blackburn, Alex Wallman, Ruth Smith, Jordan Smith, Alex Ritchie, Gary Bertola, Keith Mason

You forgot to mention my solo trip down a lesser visited pot I rigged with the bag I was taking out near Cathedral which brought you out half way down Dome. The route would make for a nice little round trip with a few bolts put in at the end of the passage in Dome, or if close enough you could prob reach the normal rope in Dome from the new passage.

About

There are many club organised caving weekends, with a mixture of easy and difficult caving.  Over the past few years we have given lots of people the opportunity to experience caving with our "Try Caving" events.  These are quite popular and quite a few people have subsequently joined the club. We have YSS members caving most weekends so it is easy for new cavers to tag onto the easier caving trips and find people to help with more training.
