Good to be back in the Dale's for some caving after a long lay off due to Covid 19.
On the way to the school we all managed to evade the sneaky boys in blue hid in the usual spot on the way out of Settle, thanks to Lisa's forwarning.
With Mr Baker fancying a Short Drop/Gavel, we bagged up and set off enroute for Leck Fell, made a pleasant change to get changed in sunshine although it was a tad windy. Short walk to the entrance and we were off, had forgot how much streamway there was in SD and after rigging the traverse we could see the daylight of Gavel entrance. Carrying on back into darkness and with some expert rigging by Phil it wasn't long before we were all stood by the sump pool at the bottom, after the obligatory choccie bar we started to make our way out. Did have a little side trip in to Glasfords on the way as Phil hadn't been before, as we hit the start of SD streamway we had a brilliant idea......leave the Gavel bags at the bottom of the entrance pitch. Thus making the streamway a lot more enjoyable on the way out, then using the SD rope we dropped the first pitch of Gavel to retrieve the traverse line and the Gavel bags.
