A good day out in an almost Mendip cave near Malham.
With the name list continually changing, we did not know the exact numbers until we left the YSS.
We ended up with seven in Robinsons' (there were a further 5 in Rowten).
Having given the farmer a couple of boxes of chocolates, we hung a ladder down the manhole under the kitchen window and descended into the cave.
Damian led the following the survey, through a cobble crawl (slightly tighter than category 2) and onward to the Darnbook streamway. The team stopped short of the downstream sump and then headed upstream until the water became deep and chilly. Various member dropped out until only Phil & Myself were left when we got into the Worm series.
On the way out we visited another collectors' piece at the north end of McColl's Rift before heading out.
A good trip with lots of type 1 fun.
Team: Damian, Dave, Eve, Finchy, Paul, Phil & Ros.

About

There are many club organised caving weekends, with a mixture of easy and difficult caving.  Over the past few years we have given lots of people the opportunity to experience caving with our "Try Caving" events.  These are quite popular and quite a few people have subsequently joined the club. We have YSS members caving most weekends so it is easy for new cavers to tag onto the easier caving trips and find people to help with more training.
