The team was reduced to 5 for this trip.
Ros, Stu & Dave went into Hunt with Stuart rigging; TC & Megs went into Shrapnel.
We had a pleasant trip down to the meeting point, with a little fun at a couple of the reblays.
TC & Megs were already there when I arrived, so after a brief chat we swapped routes for the way out, Megs derigging Hunt; Ros decided to head straight out; Stu & Dave headed to the bottom of Shrapnel (a worthwhile experience) before heading up the pitches with Stu derigging.
Part way out there was a call from above saying that Ros was stuck on the narrow section at the head of pitch 3. Dave was next up, but was unable to get close enough to help, so he went back down to allow Stu to try to assist her. Megs who had finished derigging Hunt came down to help and eventually managed to get her free.
Dave derigged three pitches in Shrapnel before getting back to the tight bit, which he was unable to negotiate, in-spite of removing several pieces of kit, including the descender & chest jammer. So he headed back down rerigging, followed by Megs who was keen to derig Shrapnel. Stu was rerigging Hunt to meet Dave in the bottom.
All went well and Dave got to the top just in time to see a passing Ring Ousel, Stu & Megs were still derigging their respective sides.

A good time was had by all, with a variety of fun levels and we still got back to the car with half an hour to spare on our call-out.

Team: TC, Megs, Ros, Stu & Dave.
Time: About 5 hours.

It was not without some interesting moments.
The trip exceeded expectations and is a good little exchange, being very careful of the loose bits just inside Shrapnel Pot (hence the name). The longish walk in probably keeps people away.
TC described it as a mini Alum Pot /Diccan Pot exchange, which was quite apt - it was still very drippy in extremely low water conditions.

About

There are many club organised caving weekends, with a mixture of easy and difficult caving.  Over the past few years we have given lots of people the opportunity to experience caving with our "Try Caving" events.  These are quite popular and quite a few people have subsequently joined the club. We have YSS members caving most weekends so it is easy for new cavers to tag onto the easier caving trips and find people to help with more training.
