Caiti had developed a masochistic streak & suggest that we try Sleets Gill.
It was good with the short walk from the car & maybe hydrophobia would keep us cool.
We met at the hut where we gained Lukasz & headed over to the cave where we met Lee Smith, who wanted to have a look at the Wharfdale Sump in low water.
The walk up to the cave was a bit warm but short, it was much more pleasant inside.
We quickly walked to the end of the main passage with a quick side trip in Galley Sump (which was still a sump) but missing the passage to Wharfdale Sump.
Lee then went back to find his sump & we dropped down a hole & crawled into the (f cold) water, with Caiti in the lead.
After a couple of right turns there was a rift allowing room to stand & an unpleasant continuation of the stream.
Caiti was not sure, so I forged ahead & after a few minutes of low crawling got to some larger passage.
The others then told me (through a connecting rift) that they we not coming through, so I went on to find the Ramp.
I got to it after about 15 minutes of stooping, walking & crawling over muddy boulders. The way up looked very slippery, so I left it for another day and returned to the main passage where I found the others.

Trip time about 3 hours.

About

There are many club organised caving weekends, with a mixture of easy and difficult caving.  Over the past few years we have given lots of people the opportunity to experience caving with our "Try Caving" events.  These are quite popular and quite a few people have subsequently joined the club. We have YSS members caving most weekends so it is easy for new cavers to tag onto the easier caving trips and find people to help with more training.
