The A team where planning to go into Wizzards chasm, so Rich, Stu, Claire and I hatched a plan to have a trip down Aquamole, we fancied doing the lower pitches via the alternative route, so we researched which ropes are needed whilst drinking more tea/giving a certain evil team member more sobering up time.
I supervised the rope packing whilst eating my porridge, and I have to say they did an excellent job, 10 out of 10. Just as we were about to drive off to Kingsdale, Rich nearly caused an international incident whilst attaching his England flag to Stu’s car for the drive to the cave, but somehow the flag got snapped in half, hmm no accident was my reaction, but we will need to consult VAR for the final result.
After parking up, our changing spot was quite cold and windy, and the odd grumblings about becoming a summer only caver may have slipped out by accident. On arrival at the entrance we waited and waited some more for Rich to rig the entrance pitch, we started to wonder if he was watching football on his phone, but then the shout of rope free came and we all descended out of the wind and into the toasty warm cave. Rich really got into his groove by this point and made short work of rigging all the way down the rabbits graveyard.
We got to the area of the in situ rope and went in search of the alternative pitches, we rigged these and were soon at the sump, with lots of diving equipment laying around we wondered if a recent dive had taken place? The alternative pitches are an excellent way down.
Claire made her way up the in situ rope on the traditional route to complete a nice round trip, and we all exited the cave in quick time thanks to the many Rebelays keeping us all moving.

Trip time - around 3 hours ( still not doing a good job of checking my watch )

Those along - Rich, Stu, Claire, Phil.

About

There are many club organised caving weekends, with a mixture of easy and difficult caving.  Over the past few years we have given lots of people the opportunity to experience caving with our "Try Caving" events.  These are quite popular and quite a few people have subsequently joined the club. We have YSS members caving most weekends so it is easy for new cavers to tag onto the easier caving trips and find people to help with more training.
