With a large number of cavers at the hut, there were several trips happening. After a brief discussion during which Bottarts came up, it was decided to go over to Ease Gill for an easier trip and have a rummage in the County Pot area.
Once inside the cave, we headed over to Battle of Britain Chamber, then up the ladder near Cono Crawl and into Brown & Smelly Chamber. This was followed by Fat Arse Squeeze and Spangle Passage before the tight section near Old English Chamber. Some of us went to have a look down Main Line Passage before returning to the remainder of the group.
There was a discussion about the way to Carrot Chamber. At this point a group from Red Rose / Cambridge appeared, the leader of which said that it was a turning between the way to Stop Pot and the route back to Old English Chamber.
We then wandered into Monster Cavern and had a look at the far end of Main Line Passage, before returning to push on to Carrot Passage. This was a lot further than expected, but we eventually saw the orange carrots. Keith the tried to push an alternative way out of Carrot Chamber, which became too tight and didn't look to have had much traffic. Looking at the survey, this links back to Old English Chamber, but passing the end of the passage on the way out, I doubt that any of us would have fitted!
We returned the same way to near Spout Hall where I decided that I had had enough for the day, leaving Ignorance Is Bliss & Toadstool Junction for another day.
The climbs up the entrance passage were more difficult than usual, possibly because my bag was smaller than normal.
Lots of fun was had by all, mainly type 2 for me.

About

There are many club organised caving weekends, with a mixture of easy and difficult caving.  Over the past few years we have given lots of people the opportunity to experience caving with our "Try Caving" events.  These are quite popular and quite a few people have subsequently joined the club. We have YSS members caving most weekends so it is easy for new cavers to tag onto the easier caving trips and find people to help with more training.
