The numbers for the trip finally stabilised at 10, thanks to the late addition of Alan & his daughter.
Friday saw the early arrivals (Dave, Ros, Rich, Alex R & Phil) head for "Water Slide" cave. Its real name is Cnoc nam Uamh System. We entered via Uamh an Uisge and later via Uamh an Tartair. Not satisfied with this trip we then had a look at Inclined Rift cave, Lower Traligill cave & (after some hunting) Tree Hole.
On Saturday we were joined for caving by Alex B. We headed past the Bone caves and on to Rana Hole to dump the rope and down to Uamh an Claonaite. I did not fit through the entrance boulder choke and headed back to rig Rana with Ros, while the rest of the team had a good rummage. Ros and I had a good look around Rana before heading out, meeting the others as they were about to descend the first pitch. I then went for a complete tour of the Bone caves: Eye Hole; No 7; No 6; No 5; Foxes' Den; Bone Cave; Reindeer Cave & Badger Cave. Only the last two of these were really worth the effort. Meanwhile Alan & Becky made a brief assault on Suilven and Bob & Kate went canoeing.
On Sunday, it was decided that we would have a short trip. So we headed back to Traligill to do Glenbain cave & Firehose cave. I forgot to pack my boots and sat them out. The youngsters did not get far in Glenbain, but were happier in the water of the Firehose. Ros, Bob & Kate stayed at the GSG to do the cleaning.

I also recorded a video of our trip in Claonaite, from the ent to sump 3 and then into the highlevel chambers.

About

There are many club organised caving weekends, with a mixture of easy and difficult caving.  Over the past few years we have given lots of people the opportunity to experience caving with our "Try Caving" events.  These are quite popular and quite a few people have subsequently joined the club. We have YSS members caving most weekends so it is easy for new cavers to tag onto the easier caving trips and find people to help with more training.
