No one was particularly keen on the King/Kink Pot option on the meets list. Keith & Rich were joining the Wessex for a GG trip. We eventually decided to give Juniper Gulf a go. Ros offered to give us a lift from the parking to the farm, knocking a reasonable distance off the walk.
We packed the bags and drove up to near Crummack Lane, where we changed and headed up the hill. Had a slightly longer walk to the cave than was necessary but we still got there in good time.
Ade started rigging, Dave followed him down the first pitch, then Paul and finally the injured James. Part way down the entrance pitches, James declared that his injury was worse than he had originally thought and that he would head out.
Due to the continued damp weather, we had decided to pack for the higher option on the entrance pitch, this lead to a snug rift, before landing us in the wider rift just above the stream.
Ade quickly rigged across the awkward step and down the second pitch. The rain was quite heavy in the awkward step.
We then had the long section of rift where you sometimes thought that a traverse line would be helpful before the next bolted section.
Dave rigged the third pitch and the drop over a block (in very heavy rain) before the big pitch. Ade was keen to look at the big pitch, but given the amount of water neither Paul nor Dave were keen.
So, having looked at the pitch we headed out with Paul doing most of the derigging.
On the surface, the sun was out, but it was a bit breezy. Wandered back down the hill to meet Ros back near the farm.

Team: Ade, Paul, Dave, almost James & Ros for transport.
Time: About 3.5 hours.

About

There are many club organised caving weekends, with a mixture of easy and difficult caving.  Over the past few years we have given lots of people the opportunity to experience caving with our "Try Caving" events.  These are quite popular and quite a few people have subsequently joined the club. We have YSS members caving most weekends so it is easy for new cavers to tag onto the easier caving trips and find people to help with more training.
