I was joined by Ros & Lukasz for a gentle trip down Aquamole.
We packed rope for the alternative route, including some extra for the traverse to the final pitch.
When we entered the cave there were some in situ ropes, but we parallel rigged them, which made some of the rebelays slightly more interesting.
Lukasz, being the last in, was accosted by a man who was going to paint the gate while we were down there.
I had only been in the cave in January, but I had already forgotten the length of the crawl between the initial decent and the next pitch. I put it down to selective amnesia.
We ascended the in situ rope to the alternative route and then abseiled down the first pitch on that route. We then went down the traverse rigging a hand/traverse line down to the pitch head.
We then went down the final pitch to the bottom of the cave and had a quick look at the sump before returning, with Lukasz doing the de-rigging.
The paint on the lid was dry when we left the cave.

Trip time: About 3 hours.

About

There are many club organised caving weekends, with a mixture of easy and difficult caving.  Over the past few years we have given lots of people the opportunity to experience caving with our "Try Caving" events.  These are quite popular and quite a few people have subsequently joined the club. We have YSS members caving most weekends so it is easy for new cavers to tag onto the easier caving trips and find people to help with more training.
