A longer than normal trip for a Sunday. Four bags of rope including 3 of the new club bags and one which is in need of retirement.
Four people headed off for the postponed Jean Pot trip and the remaining five went for a pleasant swing in Marble Steps.
Parking by the pumping station at the top of Mason Gill lane, we changed and headed further up the lane before crossing the field to Rift Pot and turning right to the clump of trees containing the cave.
Al lead the way, rigging our rope down the gully parallel with an in-situ rope. We then climbed up into Sidewinder route which descended into the main chamber and then down into the crawl into the lower part of the cave.
This area was a lot dryer than I was expecting, though there had been significant erosion since my last visit in 2013. Ros elected to top in Stink Pot. The rest of us continued down the cave going down the 90 and then the final pitch into the streamway (Al missing out on bottoming the cave). There were signs of recent flooding here to part way up the 90.
Dave & Paul were keen to do the de-rig, so the rest of us left them, waiting in strategic places to collect the filled bags.
Team: Dave, Ros, Paul, Al & Dave.
Time: About 4h30.
