Well, with large numbers of YSS cavers setting off on numerous trips and almost all the tackle already gone, it eventually came down to tossing a coin over the choices of cave for our little group. Rowten Pot won the toss over Juniper Gulf and thus we bagged Beans Rope and rigging tackle and headed over to Kingsdale. It was a stunning day and the views were fantastic.
Bean expertly rigged and down we followed, Janis had not been exposed to the airy delights of Rowten before and at the ledge lost his bottle - literally, his water bottle which clattered down from the ledge making a surprising din (a good reminder to keep things securely attached while in vertical surroundings).
A good deal of water was tanking down the cave but not a dangerous amount, it kept it interesting while we remained dry, we got to the waterfall at the bottom but refrained from going past it to the sump in order to keep dry and not having my speedos on meant I certainly wasn't going to be doing the through trip, in fact no one seemed keen on that idea......
We headed out in turn with Janis fancying a spot of derigging while we each waited on a bag where appropriate.
Those along; like the old times were Keith, Bean, Martin J, Stu W and Janis. Trip time was about 3 hours at a guess (I didn't take much notice of the time and still had dry pants).
Then we rounded off with tea and cake in Inglesport cafe, plus lots more tea back at the hut while washing the ropes.
