It being the AGM weekend, there had to be a trip down Alum Pot.
Having packed the bags before all the other trips depleted the cellar of ropes & carabinas, we headed off to the farm to pay before parking in Alum Pot Lane.
There was another group (from Kendal Caving Club) changing in the lane, including Clare (a former member) who were also planning to do Alum Pot via the Dolly Tubs.
Dave, Ros & Lukasz went straight to the Dolly Tubs where we had a short wait for the Kendal crew to complete their rigging. After a while Sam & Finchy appeared but they had left the President behind. Apparently he was having blood-sugar issues and had made his way out of the cave.
We parallel rigged down to the bridge, where they opted to go south to a hang with a good rub point and we went off the bridge which has a much nicer (if more exposed) hang.
Ros Same & Finchy opted out of the pitch to the bottom of Alum and we had left the Diccan rope behind, so that was the end of out trip.
On the way out, the cave seemed to be filling up. There was another group coming down the South East route to the bridge and two further groups coming down the direct Dolly Tubs route.
We had a short trip up part of the Long Churns, looking at Lower Lower Long Churn where there was only an inch of air space before leaving via Upper Lower Long Churn.

Trip Time: About 3 hours
Team: Ros, Lukasz, Sam, Finchy, Nigel & Dave.
Attached are a couple of photos from Sam.

About

There are many club organised caving weekends, with a mixture of easy and difficult caving.  Over the past few years we have given lots of people the opportunity to experience caving with our "Try Caving" events.  These are quite popular and quite a few people have subsequently joined the club. We have YSS members caving most weekends so it is easy for new cavers to tag onto the easier caving trips and find people to help with more training.
