Team 1 set off bright and early and reached the entrance by 8am. Rigging was slower than I would have liked - not sure why, just one of those days where everything goes wrong! We arrived back to the surface just as Team 2 were kitting up. A quick catch up with Susan and we went our separate ways.
Team 1 then headed back to the hut for tea and soup before a quick walk up Pen y Ghent where we passed 2 handbags and a pair of white trainers en route.
Once down, both Teams reunited in the lounge for tea and biscuits before a mammoth session in the SRT wall where Sophie tried a rack, an anthron descender and a panting as well as discovering mechanical advantage pulling up a tackle bag.
Team 1: Sophie & Damian
Team 2: Ros, Susan, Dave and Fran

The B team arrived just as Damian & Sophie surfaced, kitted up and headed down the cave.
It was selected as a gentle reminder of SRT for Sue and Fran, both of whom were had no problems.
When we got to the bottom of the ropes, we headed down the passage and had a quick look at the waterfall, which was flowing well, we would have got very wet trying to do the wet way!
We then had a look down the wet passage at the bottom, the first duck was almost sumped, so I decided against pushing it.
We then headed out, the only issue (other than Damian rigging on maillons) was one of the maillons had jammed & needed another maillon to open it.

Time: about 2h30.

I can't say I regard a maillon needing a little help is an issue, it's when you get arc welded krabs that I start to get a little nervous.

About

There are many club organised caving weekends, with a mixture of easy and difficult caving.  Over the past few years we have given lots of people the opportunity to experience caving with our "Try Caving" events.  These are quite popular and quite a few people have subsequently joined the club. We have YSS members caving most weekends so it is easy for new cavers to tag onto the easier caving trips and find people to help with more training.
