As part of the North Wales weekend Paul had arranged a trip in the mines of Parys Mountain.
With the expanding numbers this became a two day event with some of us going on the Saturday & some on the Sunday.
Just before the weekend people started to drop out, so we made a loss on the accommodation and were down on numbers for the two Parys mine trips.
I was on the Saturday trip, we headed over to Anglesey to meet the guide at 10:30. He opened the gate into the mined area so that we could park nearer the mine.
We walked over the moonscape about 300m to the entrance to Mona mine, where we descended into a maze of passages which required many changes of level to reach the connection to Parys mine.
Mona mine has a huge number of snotites, some of which have been transformed into iron based stalactites and stalagmites.
The connection to Parys mine is a low roofed canal, which ends in a short duck.
After the connection the nature of the mine changed and navigation became much easier.
We visited a chamber with some amazing blue crystal formations and another chamber which was mined during the bronze age.
We also saw a pool where a BBC camera man when for a swim with his camera (it didn't work after that).
We then climbed a lot of steps to emerge in the hut near where we had parked the cars.
An excellent trip, thanks to our guide Tim.
