The morning began in the newly re-rigged SRT Facility with 3 enthusiastic learners. After an intro to traverse lines, pitch heads, descending and ascending, our students proved themselves ready and we soon headed off to BPOTW, our favoured venue for all-weather SRT practice.

Another group pulled up in a minibus as we were changing, and our hearts sank on discovering they were also heading to BPOTW. However, it turned out we were going to avoid them almost completely.  We duly enjoyed a peaceful couple of hours of useful practice on the chimney 'pitch' and the 8m (?) one beyond the shakehole. Our new recruits proved more than up for the challenges set.

Party: Val, Matty, Dave, Damian and Sophie.
Time: 2 hrs (ish)

About

There are many club organised caving weekends, with a mixture of easy and difficult caving.  Over the past few years we have given lots of people the opportunity to experience caving with our "Try Caving" events.  These are quite popular and quite a few people have subsequently joined the club. We have YSS members caving most weekends so it is easy for new cavers to tag onto the easier caving trips and find people to help with more training.
