Arrived Saturday morning, spent half an hour talking through the SRT kit and drinking tea, then outside the School learning the technique without the threat of a big hole. Jumped in the car and off to Valley Entrance, spent time doing circuits to get the hang of it, once Damian thought we were ok, made our way back out into the rather unsettled weather, and stomped off up the road and up the hill to Bull Pot. Went down the first four pitches without incident, then back up and out, past a rather tricky deviation on the fourth. Off back to the car rather exhausted but pleased with the way we had got on. Arrived back at the School just in time to get food at the Helwith and a few well earned beers.
Sunday - decided that Sell Gill - Dry route would be a good place to practice further, so after a long stomp up the hill we desended the three pitches and had a wander down to the sump them back up to the entrance pitch where we decided it was a good place to try changeovers, which was good as I managed to desend the pitch and get caught up in the re-belay, rather stuck I was. Good place to learn this lesson. Out and back to the School for a cuppa. Great weekend, and a very good teacher.
