With groups heading down Pool Sink (Ade, Paul, Andy, Dave, James, Nicky, Lukas, Lukasz & Phil) & Wretched Rabit (Aaron, Alan, Caitlin, Caiti & Matt) with the intention of coming out of Lancaster Hole, I offered to rig Lancaster Hole & do a short trip near the entrance.
Stu decided to avoid the chaos & head for Lost Johns' with Sue, Fran, Julie & Martin.
We rigged & descended the entrance pitch. Having arrived at the bottom I put 3 rocks in the bag to indicate the three groups in the cave intending to use Lancaster Hole to get out.
After a couple of wrong turns found the pitch into the Graveyard. We left our SRT kits at the bottom of that pitch and went for a rummage.
Having been in there fairly recently, we headed to the pretty section first, pushing most of the passages to their sensible limits.
We then had a quick at the muddy passages before heading out. Putting the SRT kits back on had an element of fun with all the mud we had collected on our oversuits.
Having got out of the Graveyard, we discussed visiting the Colonnades, but no-one was particularly keen. We went back to the entrance pitch & removed a rock from the bag before ascending the pitch.
Just as I was about to set off up the pitch a splinter group from the Pool Sink crew (Paul & Andy) arrived.
All the teams successfully completed their trips. The through trips were held up by an excess of cavers trying to leave the system via Lancaster Hole.

Team: Ros, Paul, Iain, Dave, Sally (BPC) & Mike (BPC).
Time: About 4 hours.

About

There are many club organised caving weekends, with a mixture of easy and difficult caving.  Over the past few years we have given lots of people the opportunity to experience caving with our "Try Caving" events.  These are quite popular and quite a few people have subsequently joined the club. We have YSS members caving most weekends so it is easy for new cavers to tag onto the easier caving trips and find people to help with more training.
