My original plan and that on the WhatsApp poll was Boundary Pot to Wretched Rabbit. But for reasons not entirely clear to me, we ended up with Top Sink to Boundary Pot.
Having done the passage to Penknife Pitch a couple of times before, I had my SRT kit in a bag. Some of those less well prepared were undressing and redressing in the awkward passages.
Having descended the two pitches, we set off for Nagasaki with Ade leading the way. He took us over some interesting traverses, which I am sure I hadn't done before. One of the traverses was so "interesting" that a couple of us found a less exposed route.
We got to Nagasaki fairly quickly and with plenty of time until our 17:00 call-out, we continued to Easter Grotto for a quick look before heading out of Boundary Pot.
There was an interesting climb out of Nagasaki before an easy route to Easter Grotto. With the formations suitably admired, we returned to Nagasaki and headed towards Hiroshima Chamber.
We found the climb to the traverse on the second attempt and continued to Fusion Cavern. This is where things got a bit confusing.
The only words we had were for Boundary Pot as a way into the system and the only member of the group who had done it (once) before, had done it that way.
We climbed down into a chamber with a waterfall and then up an interesting 10m (or so) climb into a small chamber. Ade lead us through a wet crawl and into a drippy chamber with a further climb into a wet passage, which appeared to be choked.
Now thoughly soaked, we faffed around in this area for over an hour with some members of the party getting a bit chilly. When we no longer had any chance of making our call out, we decided to head for Wretched Rabbit.
Three fitter ones scampered off to extend the call out for the rest of us. The remainder of the group plodded along more slowly, particularly up the interesting climb out of Nagasaki which had been made more slippery by the water from passing cavers.
We met the lead group again just short of an apparently relocated Stop Pot. We carried on the Stop Pot, which was exactly where I had last seen it.
From there we navigated quickly to the Wretched Rabbit streamway. Where two of the group sped off again, while the rest of us followed more sedately.
The call out was cancelled before cave rescue were called, in spite of us being at least 30 minutes overdue.
We will have to have another go at this entrance, next time going in the direction of the words!
