Having not been in Odin Mine since 2008, Ros was keen to visit again. The last visit was prior to the collapse near the entrance. The collapse has created a couple of new pitches and a traverse and hence a requirement for more rope.
With just the two of us doing the cave we decided to re-use the 16m rope for the two traverses and Chipendale rift. This worked fine with me rigging the rope across each traverse and Ros derigging it as she came across. But having been used for three different "pitches", that rope ended up very dirty.
Having done the new pitches & traverse, the rest of the mine had not changed much.
The highlights were the stone stemples and the amazing brick wall curving over the passage.
We completed our trip with a descent into Bell Chamber before heading out, derigging the now slimey ropes on the way.
Washing the kit back at the YSS took nearly as long as the trip.

About

There are many club organised caving weekends, with a mixture of easy and difficult caving.  Over the past few years we have given lots of people the opportunity to experience caving with our "Try Caving" events.  These are quite popular and quite a few people have subsequently joined the club. We have YSS members caving most weekends so it is easy for new cavers to tag onto the easier caving trips and find people to help with more training.
