Faced with heavy rain overnight and the resulting high water levels, we opted for a trip to Shuttleworth. The morning rain held off until we were just setting off down the entrance so sadly Ian, being last in, got drenched. Writing this now, I realise he didn't moan once, so all credit to him!
We were soon down the pitches and removing SRT kits for a gentle stroll among the pretties in the fossil passage. We particularly enjoyed the black ones and, after checking when we got back, I can now confirm that manganese oxide  is the cause of the colour.
