Gordon hadn't been to Sunset, so we decided to combine it with a trip to Hardrawkin and Great Douk.

Began with a Great Douk thru-trip, led by Gordon, before moving across to Sunset where we did a bit of assisted-handline practice. We then wandered along to Harwrawkin, enjoying the lively Dales sky as we went. A bimble to the first pitch before we returned. Gordon then reminded me about the upstream continuation of Hardrawkin so, sensing a chance to tick off some new (to me) passage, I eagerly took the bait. Surprised to find quite how much cave there is upstream actually.

Gordon then mentioned a passage on the left just inside Great Douk. Somehow I had never noticed it before, so we decided to pop our heads in and see where it went. It quickly leads to a sump which, although quite low, was unfortunately not low enough.

A pleasant half day finished off with cake and coffee in Bernie's.

Party: Gordon Aitken, Damian Weare
Time: ~ 3.5hrs

Would that be high douk holes? the other way to Hardrawkin? with the rather nice stone entrance.

About

There are many club organised caving weekends, with a mixture of easy and difficult caving.  Over the past few years we have given lots of people the opportunity to experience caving with our "Try Caving" events.  These are quite popular and quite a few people have subsequently joined the club. We have YSS members caving most weekends so it is easy for new cavers to tag onto the easier caving trips and find people to help with more training.
