Out of the 14 of us my party opted for doing Lost John's via Cathedral Route, was a lot of water going in after the rain on Sat Night but this was soon left behind as we took the New Roof Traverse. Pretty soon all six of us were at the bottom of Sink Chamber were the Waterfall coming in from Monastery Route was very impressive. All that was left was a steady prussik out.
Trip time 4hrs
Alex, Sue, Gordon, Pete, Stu W, Keith

What a fantastic day/cave/birthday. It was like the best assault course ever.

I must admit to being a bit worried about the amount of water going into the cave after the heavy night of rain. But no problem whatsoever.

This was the best trip yet. Good to get to use our brand new SRT kits.
After watching Keith fly back up the fourth? pitch I tried a different prussik style to the one I struggled with in Bar Pot. - by lifting alternate legs & using the pantene;felt much more natural than the two foot in the one loop style. I was able to climb much faster. So nice one Keith.
Great cave will definately do this again... apparently there are lots more routes to explore too.
The waterfall in the sump looks like a spectacular descent. So really fancy that one.

A big thank you to everyone for organising these trips and a special thank you to Keith for leading us through it.

About

There are many club organised caving weekends, with a mixture of easy and difficult caving.  Over the past few years we have given lots of people the opportunity to experience caving with our "Try Caving" events.  These are quite popular and quite a few people have subsequently joined the club. We have YSS members caving most weekends so it is easy for new cavers to tag onto the easier caving trips and find people to help with more training.
