BULL POT , kingsdale

Being a quite weekend at the club I decided to take Gordon and Pete into bull pot for a bit more srt practice for them and some rigging practice for me. parked in the layby kitting up it came to light that someone had forgot to bring there harness ,after a bit of consultation on what to do we headed into yordas for a look before heading over to bull pot.

Up at bull pot a party had already rigged the pitch on the new hangers so I rigged it the old way with the deviation at the top, all down the 1st pitch ( harness swapping done ) we went to the top of the 2nd ,ive never seen so much water going down the pitch before so thought I would go down and have a look so quickly rigged the pitch and went down, at this point the other people in the cave were coming up through the slot after a quick chat I decided that this was as far as I wanted to go as they said the level of water had got worse since they went in, so I shot up the rope told Pete and Gordon what was happening and went back to the bottom of the first pitch (Gordon went up to the surface) as we waited for the other party to exit (harness swapping 2), when they had left me and Pete went down the second pitch (Pete had a good soaking when he swung under the waterfall) had a quick look down the slot and the wet pitch then made our way out to the surface , a quick harness change( 3 ) and it was back down with Gordon, yep it was the same 3rd time down , with Gordon safely up the pitch i followed derigging on the way out

trip 2.5 hrs
Paul, Pete, Gordon

I've often been laddered up pitches with a harness made out of a long sling. Not very comfy and a bit awkward but does the job.

Ypu'd need a second sling around the chest to strap the bottom jammer down though, hmmm.

You can just use the sling for leg loops and then attach it to a belt for teh waist bit ....

About

There are many club organised caving weekends, with a mixture of easy and difficult caving.  Over the past few years we have given lots of people the opportunity to experience caving with our "Try Caving" events.  These are quite popular and quite a few people have subsequently joined the club. We have YSS members caving most weekends so it is easy for new cavers to tag onto the easier caving trips and find people to help with more training.
