With another good turn out of 10 people we decided to do a Monastry/Cathedral exchange, the day was'nt without a few problems but nothing we could'nt overcome. Suffice to say everybody had a good day and we all got out OK
Trip time 5hrs

Exchange arranged and two groups set off one for Cathedral done by Chris, Carl, Mike & Jane & Julie. Monastry led by Keith with Alex & Suesan, Gordon and myself. Some difficult pitches, one long pitch and a 3 way re-bealy. Knackered coming back, didn't help when Mike accidently pulled the rope with a bag on the last pitch and left Chris & myself stranded, not for long as we go a break by lassoing a rock. maybe next time I will get to exchange.

Sorry mike but it's worth mentioning as it's so easy to miss.

Thanks to Keith & Chris for looking after us all. Fantastic weekend Guys, see you all soon.

PJ.

A really great SRT trip and just the type that got me into pot-holing!:cheer: Jane (my other half) has been caving for more than 15 years but I was put off and only tempted to try again in the last couple of years when I was introduced to the delights of SRT :woohoo: rather than all that crawly stuff :( ...!
I was following Chris down Cathedral and then up out via Monastry. It was certainly wetter going out, much wetter  . Yes I need to fess up to making a little bit of a boo boo on the way out.. Whilst hauling the heavy sack up the last pitch I must have accidentally dragged the end of the rope up onto a ledge thus stranding Pete J and Chris T behind me  Struggling with the sack and also with a broken helmet strap, as well as generally knackered by the trip I didn't notice my error!
Sorry guys! I definitely owe you both a beer

Pictures from this trip (as well as Saturday's) are up on my facebook album

Lost Johns, going down Cathedral route and back up, was great, got me back into SRT, some good traversing, clambering and stomping along. I much prefer it to crawling around. Would happily go back and do it again, would even attempt the wet route. Thanks Keith and Chris for leading the way and sorting us out.

Brilliant Superb!
After seeing the Monastry route a month ago whilst doing Cathederal I thought 'that looks good' and it did n't dissapoint!

Fantastic.

I had to laugh at the top of the last pitch though... I was descending the waterfall and was about to traverse to the rebelay only to see someone ascending the rope! No need to worry though, it was Keith who had just popped up to coach us through the tricky bit. The thing was that I was just at that point where the full force of the waterfall was on me! So whilst Keith was chatting away telling me what to do, I was getting the full force of the waterfall on my my groin. I was so glad I bought a Meander and not a beaver!

A big THANK YOU to Keith for leading the team and being so patient. Can't wait for the next one!

Much prefer these massive, beautiful caves to those 'orrible little crawly ones!

4th attempt to type something in here! Is it just me?

Fantastic trip.
Favourite cave so far.

A big THANK YOU to Keith for leading our party.
I had a bit of a laugh on the top of the final pitch. As when I descended I found Susan and Pete were on the top of the waterfall;as I was still on the rope, they waved me through and I started to go down the waterfall. ...only to get 10' down to see Keith coming up the rebelay! At this point I was literally under the full force of the waterfall; Keith had come up to coach us through the re belay - so whilst he was chatting to me about getting to the rebelay; my groin was getting a bit of a cooling down! At this point I thought I am so glad I bought a Meander and not a Beaver!

Great trip when can we do the rest of this fantastic cave? Certanly prefer this type to the 'crawly' tight Magnetometer!
thanks again!
Gordon

If you spend too long typing it, it will log you out so that when you try to post your message, you can't. This has happened to me before too.

If I'm typing a longish trip report, I tend to do it in Word and copy and paste afterwards.

Hope this helps.

About

There are many club organised caving weekends, with a mixture of easy and difficult caving.  Over the past few years we have given lots of people the opportunity to experience caving with our "Try Caving" events.  These are quite popular and quite a few people have subsequently joined the club. We have YSS members caving most weekends so it is easy for new cavers to tag onto the easier caving trips and find people to help with more training.
