Although we had originally planned to go climbing, it didn’t take much drizzle to persuade a change of plan; Luckily I had just acquired a new book which Emma was keen to be introduced to - 51 suggestions and a couple of hours later we were back off to Chapel-le-Dale for a pleasant trip to Tatham Wife Hole.

Being unable to find the drilled deviation (any suggestions?) on the 2nd pitch, we were glad that it hadn’t rained recently and this also meant the 1st duck was well down. Even so it was a good enough bail point for Emma, leaving Sam and I to carry on to the final pitch and a watery crawl amongst some low formations (assumed to be the second duck in higher water levels) to the sump.

About

There are many club organised caving weekends, with a mixture of easy and difficult caving.  Over the past few years we have given lots of people the opportunity to experience caving with our "Try Caving" events.  These are quite popular and quite a few people have subsequently joined the club. We have YSS members caving most weekends so it is easy for new cavers to tag onto the easier caving trips and find people to help with more training.
