Neils old farts trip started stunningly well with Neils fry up - what a beauty - thanks Neil.
The walk up to Alum was telling tales of what was going to be up there, water and more of it. Headed up steam in long churn before turing back due to masses of water trying to wash you away, Andy did make it for a swim in Dr Banisters. Had a look down the top of Upper long churn - loads more water.
Then planned to go down lower long churn before turning back due to tonnes of water:(
Was my time to head off as babysitting duties were called for, everyone else went to try the dry route, sure they will fill in the details.

After James left the water levels began to drop very quickly, about a foot lower - we must have seen the peak of the flood pulse.
So we had a quick trip down the dryish route to dolly tubs and dropped the pitch to look at the view down into Alum. The volume of water cascading down the waterfall into the spray filled depths was a most impressive sight.
Many thanks to Neil for dragging us out of the woodwork for a get together, and especially for the fantastic breakfast.
Hope the carbide burns heal quickly old boy.

trip time - as long as was necessary.

About

There are many club organised caving weekends, with a mixture of easy and difficult caving.  Over the past few years we have given lots of people the opportunity to experience caving with our "Try Caving" events.  These are quite popular and quite a few people have subsequently joined the club. We have YSS members caving most weekends so it is easy for new cavers to tag onto the easier caving trips and find people to help with more training.
