I knew Damian wanted a fairly quick trip - the main reason for going was after all to make a topo - but I hadn't quite realised that he meant running to the cave! Suffice to say, when Ian and I reached the GG plateau Damian was nowhere to be seen. Not a problem, I knew exactly where to find Stream Passage and we walked straight to it. Unfortunately the shakehole was not as bg as I remembered, I decided this was not the cave and we spent the next hour looking for it. It was quite a relief to see Damian reappear as we were considering going down Hurnell Moss just in case it turned out the be the right cave.

Since Damian had already rigged the first few pitches we were soon at the bottom. A few route-finding errors meant there was more crawling than necessary to reach the main chamber. The return trip went without hitch and we were soon walking back down the track to Clapham.

Party: Damian and Fiona Weare and Ian Walker
Time: 3ish (depends on which part of the party you were in)

Wicked! You can get so muddy going the wrong way at the bottom of Stream.

About

There are many club organised caving weekends, with a mixture of easy and difficult caving.  Over the past few years we have given lots of people the opportunity to experience caving with our "Try Caving" events.  These are quite popular and quite a few people have subsequently joined the club. We have YSS members caving most weekends so it is easy for new cavers to tag onto the easier caving trips and find people to help with more training.
