Not the best of weather for a walk up to Juniper Gulf but at least the rain held off for the three of us that turned up. Fair bit of water going in, so opted for the Alternative route down the entrance to keep dry. After crossing Bad Step Traverse and dropping the Second Pitch it was steady going till we got to the top of the Last Pitch, once rigged we were all soon at the bottom looking up at a very impressive waterfall. Not a place to hang about as it was rather chilly so we did a quick about turn and started to make our way back out.
Trip time 4hrs45

That is the one trip I want to do more than any other, I've tried to get down there 3 times but only got to the top of the third pitch so far. It's a right monkey on the back.

Water levels were surprisingly low – good thing really as the rope ran out in the entrance traverse – needs a 55m to be sure I reckon -assuming our rope was what it claimed to be ;) . Would be a great trip in flood conditions.

You're right Keith, I should have not gone on the Try Caving weekend and gone this weekend instead.

Although that would have been a cut off point which meant I had no goals in caving and would have spent more effort acheiving the goals I have in other sports.

Like breaking 22 minutes for 6k on the erg, I did nothing for months and put on a stone of flab.

About

There are many club organised caving weekends, with a mixture of easy and difficult caving.  Over the past few years we have given lots of people the opportunity to experience caving with our "Try Caving" events.  These are quite popular and quite a few people have subsequently joined the club. We have YSS members caving most weekends so it is easy for new cavers to tag onto the easier caving trips and find people to help with more training.
