Had a glorious scenic drive around the Dales and did a little caving trip in between, cheers Richard.
We had some debate before leaving the hut about whether to Ladder or SRT it, we chose ladder because Rich had heard it was the best way, although I'm not convinced, its less faff to drop down a rope and abb in!

Lots of respect to Rich who went through a tight wet bit on his back to look at some straws while we chose to carry on bailing with a bucket while he was through the constriction, the water was bloody freezing too - still a lot of snow melting off the tops over there.

Those caving were; Rich Rae, Emma, Stu W.
trip time about 3 hours?

Beware the Selected Caves description of the 'short squeeze' that only Rich braved (while I sat there wishing he hadn't) !

No photo of that madness, but a few others:

We went upstream and then downstream. A very different feel to each part, with the downstream section being wetter with some good little cascades, as well as some bizarre piping?!?

This trip served to remind me how much easier SRT makes caving for me.

P.S. I tried using my newly-learnt 'Influencing' skills to get permission at the farmhouse, but no one was in...

Whoever laid a hand line through it certainly has a sense of humour. You wouldn’t be impressed if you returned to find it had sumped :(

About

There are many club organised caving weekends, with a mixture of easy and difficult caving.  Over the past few years we have given lots of people the opportunity to experience caving with our "Try Caving" events.  These are quite popular and quite a few people have subsequently joined the club. We have YSS members caving most weekends so it is easy for new cavers to tag onto the easier caving trips and find people to help with more training.
