Illusion Pot

Trip number 2 – After a 40min overloaded car we arrived, short walk up to Illusion, through a pleasantly wet duck and into the big passage (the expressway) through the missile silo (long rope hanging down), back to junction and up and along some amazing sand banks, met other club coming in opposite direction, exchanged pleasantries and headed up, passed the orange stals and a left turn as guided by a thin rope. Over the exposed traverse, Brunel Rift, to Rushtons chamber and the Dale Barn Sump.
Overall a great trip, cows tails only required. You will get muddy but as we have had little if no rain in April, not sure what to expect in wet weather.

Time taken one and a half hours ish.

Last minute call as the weather reported thunderstorms and we did not want to risk a flood while we had been underground for a few hours.

Maybe next time - Permit required again please :)

About

There are many club organised caving weekends, with a mixture of easy and difficult caving.  Over the past few years we have given lots of people the opportunity to experience caving with our "Try Caving" events.  These are quite popular and quite a few people have subsequently joined the club. We have YSS members caving most weekends so it is easy for new cavers to tag onto the easier caving trips and find people to help with more training.
