Lancaster Hole Exchange trip to Cow Pot

Lead / Rigged by Keith and Paul Geddies and followed by Stu Weston, Nigel Steel, Peter James, Gordon Aitken, Mike Skegg, we had an exchange trip.

The trip down Lancaster Hole was straight forward enough with an amazing view of the Colonnade Chamber.
Met up with the other party and we set off up the big pitch to Cow Pot, not recommended if you had a skin full the night before and a little over weight, as I struggled to pull myself up the fixed knotted rope, after three attempts I used the foot loop provided only to find I had little strength to pull myself that extra four inches up so I could lift my chest past the squeeze.
It got worse, the holes just seem to get smaller and longer, this time it took a side lying position, hands in front (like superman) four inches forward and thee back, I was needing help. Thank you to Keith in front and Stuart behind for their support.
Great trip guys.

Pete James

About

There are many club organised caving weekends, with a mixture of easy and difficult caving.  Over the past few years we have given lots of people the opportunity to experience caving with our "Try Caving" events.  These are quite popular and quite a few people have subsequently joined the club. We have YSS members caving most weekends so it is easy for new cavers to tag onto the easier caving trips and find people to help with more training.
