Took advantage of a Masson permit as they had sacked off their caving due to lack of water and heating at the hut

,there was going to be three of us on this trip, but then Paul Geddes couldn't make it, so that just left the two of us.
Had a steady drive up a snow covered Leck Fell and after parking up and using all the excuses not to leave a nice warm vehicle, we eventually got changed and bagged up the ropes, 3 big bags between two of us.
Not ideal, but we were in for a pleasant surprise

, as we made our way into the system we took the New Roof Traverse as we were going to do Centipede Route.
Arriving at the top of the first pitch we found it was already rigged

and as we carried on so was the second pitch and all the others, right to the bottom. Although we did take our ropes as far as the fourth pitch just in case, but at this point we said sod it and left them there.
Once down in the Master Cave we headed off upstream, climbing a couple of up ropes on the way, only to find they didn't go anywhere. From there we made our way up into Lyle Caverns for a ferret around, and ended up in a horrible Boulder Choke which turned out to be Bruno Kranskies and at this point as nobody knew where we were we decided to make our way back out, picking up our tackle bags as we went. All that was left then was the pleasantries of getting changed again and back to a cold hut, brrrr.
