Having helped Alan with a job at the school I decided it was time to venture out. But only to Bernies to buy a couple of surveys and a new pair of cowstails :-)

Meanwhile the rest of the Hades contingent decided they would go caving. Not so fast as they couldn't even get down Lancaster for the water flowing down it!

Driving back was pretty interesting, with standing water everywhere and streams flowing all over the place; the river had become a raging torrent, well up the wall of the Helly - the highest I've seen it - the power of the water was awesome. Not a day for caving, in the Dales at least.

I am about especially if Growling is on the cards.
The so called dry route down Sell Gill was equally impassable today, got half way down the third pitch (I was rigging for practice) before the water tried to pull my wellies off, and I called it a day. Where the water on the first and second pitches had increased so my well out of the water rigging still gave us a good soaking.

That third pitch would be passable if there was something deviate off on the far wall.

Did consider Pikedaw but no takers given the walk up and having to changed in the wind and rain.

Won't be out next weekend as I'm of for some winter sun (tonight B) ) - not sure I mentioned that :silly: - will be back in time for the agm weekend though. Poor timing though as it looks like it will be settling down weatherwise.

Probably be up Saturday morning - the current plan is to go and watch "127 Days" at the cinema on Friday night. After all, it's been a while since I watched someone hack off their own arm.

About

There are many club organised caving weekends, with a mixture of easy and difficult caving.  Over the past few years we have given lots of people the opportunity to experience caving with our "Try Caving" events.  These are quite popular and quite a few people have subsequently joined the club. We have YSS members caving most weekends so it is easy for new cavers to tag onto the easier caving trips and find people to help with more training.
