Shuttleworth Pot: 2nd April

A very pleasant photographic trip into the newly opened Shuttleworth Pot. Very impressed with the quantity and variety of formations (for the Dales!) Unfortunately, given the easy nature of the trip, the huge write-up in Descent and the number of permits that have apparently already been given out, I fear there is going to be some damage. Most concerningly some idiots have already walked straight through some lovely mud formations and it is difficult to see how they could have done this accidentally. I struggle to understand the mind set of some.

On a more positive note, an excellent piece of work by the diving team and subsequently by the diggers. Well done all!

I should add for the record that, although in the closed season, I was caving officially with special permission from the Estate to get some photos taken for the Conservation Plan before the cave is officially opened in July.

Party: Les Sykes, Glenn Jones & Damian Weare
Time: 3.5hrs

About

There are many club organised caving weekends, with a mixture of easy and difficult caving.  Over the past few years we have given lots of people the opportunity to experience caving with our "Try Caving" events.  These are quite popular and quite a few people have subsequently joined the club. We have YSS members caving most weekends so it is easy for new cavers to tag onto the easier caving trips and find people to help with more training.
