5 of us set off for a trip down Ireby, but first we had the pleasure of driving up Masongill Lane which is now deteriating at a great rate. Alex does have a video of this but you have to be over 18 to listen to the soundtrack

The second mishap off the day was Brian forgetting his helmet and lamp  so he ended up doing the whole trip in a furry balaclava and a petzl tikka, hats off for effort  the last mishap off the day was the rope being short on Ding/Dong, so after some rope joining we had the joy of passing a knot:)
After that the rest of the trip went without a hitch, we made our way down to Duke Street for a look at the sump before making our way through Skylight Passage to get into Duke Street 2

From there we had a look at the other side of the sump before heading off towards Echo Rift, as we started to make our way up the rift on a very dodgy looking rope with several knots in it. It was at this point that Alex and Sue decided to start heading out, leaving the 3 of us to carry on making our way up to Frink Chamber. After having a look at the pretties, we turned round and started to make our way back out, was fun on the way down as my bobbin would not run on the mud caked ropes so had to do it all on Italin Hitch :woohoo:

Once back through Skylight Passage it was a steady uneventful trip back out, once back over the Fell and changed we had the joys of Masongill Lane again

No, the damage is from the end of the Tarmac lane where the water treatment building is and goes up past the stile by the look of it. Having said that though, the Tarmac section is starting to get in a bad way near the end.

Oh well I never drive beyond that building, that bit of the road always has been knackerd. I certainly would never consider taking my 206 up there.

P.s. What is Susan worried about? Its a 4x4 thats what they are designed for, otherwise whats the point in having one lol.

About

There are many club organised caving weekends, with a mixture of easy and difficult caving.  Over the past few years we have given lots of people the opportunity to experience caving with our "Try Caving" events.  These are quite popular and quite a few people have subsequently joined the club. We have YSS members caving most weekends so it is easy for new cavers to tag onto the easier caving trips and find people to help with more training.
