Another cave on my to-do list and, having finally emerged from bed, Nigel offered to show us the way.

This is a very pretty and extremely delicate cave and its well-preserved nature some 15 years after its first discovery probably justifies the original decision not to publicise more than a 4-figure grid reference.

We had a very pleasant few hours poking around all the nooks and crannies while gawping at the incredibly varied formations ... superb mud, some very good curtains and stals, plus the infamous blue ones. Excellent stuff.

In future I'll ditch SRT in favour of a ladder for the 10m pitch and bypassing the 14m pitch via a drop down on the right. That'll mean no tackle bags of SRT kits going anywhere near the very delicate formations ... plus no SRT kits to scrub afterwards!

Party: Nigel Steel, Gordon Aitken, Brian Cullen & Damian Weare
Time: 3hrs ???

Paul, I think I'd probably give it a miss for your first trip back - the entrance section is a little tight and awkward and, should anything go wrong, it would be quite tricky to get you back out. Maybe better once you've got a couple of trips under your belt.

About

There are many club organised caving weekends, with a mixture of easy and difficult caving.  Over the past few years we have given lots of people the opportunity to experience caving with our "Try Caving" events.  These are quite popular and quite a few people have subsequently joined the club. We have YSS members caving most weekends so it is easy for new cavers to tag onto the easier caving trips and find people to help with more training.
