Priddy Green to Swildon's - 29th October

This was an excellent trip through an incredible variety of passage in one of the UK's best caves. Even better for me was that I hadn't been into Priddy Green before.

Bean expertly led the way and, after a few tight bits in Priddy Green Sink, 5 of the original 6 made it down Cowsh Avens and into Swildon's 4 - unfortunately early on in the trip Colum realised that he was feeling pretty ill and sensible retreated to the warmth of the Wessex.

From Swildon's 4 it was the pleasure (especially for Nigel) of Blue Pencil Passage. After some thrutching, grunting and general happiness we all emerged half-way round the Short Round Trip. We then opted to complete the round trip via the infamous Troubles and then Sump 1.

The trip from Sump 1 out is one of the UK's finest sections of stream passage, and those who hadn't visited before were clearly impressed.

Many thanks to Bean for an excellent trip.

Party: Bean, Keith, Nigel, Lionel & Damian (plus Colum at the start)
Time: ~6hrs

I'll second that Damian, having done it before in 2007 it was well worth doing again as it is an excellent trip. Also I think Nigel earned his stripes on this trip as I am sure he was out his comfort zone at several places throughout the trip, but he stuck with it and it paid off for him.
Also as you rightly say a big thanks to Bean for an excellent trip :)

Well done, sounds like it was a "snug" trip. I think it's another trip that I will never do but Susan probably will.

Jealous? moi?

Yes Alex, I'm sure Susan would have been in her element :)

About

There are many club organised caving weekends, with a mixture of easy and difficult caving.  Over the past few years we have given lots of people the opportunity to experience caving with our "Try Caving" events.  These are quite popular and quite a few people have subsequently joined the club. We have YSS members caving most weekends so it is easy for new cavers to tag onto the easier caving trips and find people to help with more training.
