As the rope on Block Hall had been reported as damaged :( we offered our services to install the new rope.
Thanks to Mr Harrison, we got a ride in Speedwell on the last boat as far as the Bottomless Pit, with what seemed like the worlds biggest tackle bag containing 200mts of 10.5
Once at the Bottomless Pit we made our way along the very deep very wet and very cold Canal to arrive at the gate, once unlocked and through this we soon arrived at a very wet Bung :(
Fun getting down with the big tackle sack and our own bags, but once at the bottom of the ladder and bags retrieved we made our way to the bottom of Block Hall.
From here the plan was for Lee and Col to take the new rope up to the top, whilst i followed, stripping out the old rope as i went. Once at the top, we then descended on the new rope, rigging as we went and making sure all the old rope came down with us.
After getting back to the bottom of Block Hall we cut the excess new rope off ( approx 20 mts ) and put this in the tackle sack then left that and the old rope to be taken out at a later date, possibly back out via Speedwell when the Bung is a bit drier :)
From the bottom of Block Hall we then made our way out through the Short By-pass and the joys of Colostamy Crawl  to exit via Peak Cavern.
Back to the TSG hut for a shower and cup of tea.......job well done :cheer:

Keith - The rope was 11mm so probably a bit heavier and more bulky than you thought

About

There are many club organised caving weekends, with a mixture of easy and difficult caving.  Over the past few years we have given lots of people the opportunity to experience caving with our "Try Caving" events.  These are quite popular and quite a few people have subsequently joined the club. We have YSS members caving most weekends so it is easy for new cavers to tag onto the easier caving trips and find people to help with more training.
