pegleg pot
Since no one had been in here before I managed to get everyone interested in a trip , 8 of us set off for the walk over the hill on a cold and sunny Sunday mourning , at the cave entrance a few people looked at it in horror but after a gentle briefing on how to do it everyone made it throught the entrance tube with a lot of grumbling by some people

Regrouped we climbed down into the passages and set off to the pitches , at this point we split into two groups , one group traversed over the first pitch and onto the second pitch and the other group rigged the first pitch for a quick trip to the bottom and back. Once down the second pitch it was a slippy slide through mud into the large hall, from there it was a slide down into the streamway, heading upstream we went to explore the low crawls into other parts of the cave. We met the other group on the way back at the bottom of the second pitch

Trip time 3.5 hrs
Paul G, Alex R, Nigel S, Peter J, Susan B, Stu W, Richard & Emma

Yes, as with Saturday, this was a cave I was glad to be out of! A bit too much squeezing and crawling for my liking (my knees are wrecked!), but the cave certainly held enough interest and variation to outweigh this. The muddy tube was fun to slide along inside, although it was terrifying to see the flood debris almost everywhere in the cave.

Thanks to Paul for a speedy exit from our turn-around at the tight[est] squeeze :)

Was only a grade 3 ;) but as I squeezed through that flat out bit and then down that deep climb I thought this is defiantely getting into grade 4 territory. The grading was probbably given before that section had been discovered.

About

There are many club organised caving weekends, with a mixture of easy and difficult caving.  Over the past few years we have given lots of people the opportunity to experience caving with our "Try Caving" events.  These are quite popular and quite a few people have subsequently joined the club. We have YSS members caving most weekends so it is easy for new cavers to tag onto the easier caving trips and find people to help with more training.
