Put this trip on for Nigel and Stu as Nigel had not done it before and he had talked Stu into it over a few beers on Saturday night
5 of us met up in the carpark at Artists Corner, after getting kitted up we all got in the truck for the drive up, did a bit of off roading which only left a short walk :)
Once down the entrance shaft and SRT kit removed and bagged up ready to be pulled out later, we set off on the through trip to exit via Yould's level. Fairly easy going and pretty soon we were at the low wet squeezes, luckily they didn't need too much digging out and it wasn't long before we were all through.
The rest of it is mainly down hill all the way out, with a mixture of flat crawls, cobbly sections and stooping height coffin levels. All this bought us to the last section which is the sewer level under the main road and the climb out to exit behind the public toilets :woohoo:
After getting changed it was just a case of driving back up to fetch out the rope and SRT kits and get the truck back.
Trip time 1hr50
Nigel Steel, Stu Weston, Howard Whittaker, Lee Langdon, Keith Mason

Brilliant trip i highly recommend it. The 50m entrance pitch is snug, the various climbs at the begining make one drip, somewhat. It is very dry in the 1st part of the trip. Some interesting traversing and very interesting miners grafitti and artefacts from a bygone era. The crystals were absolutely fabulous, dog toothed flurospar (i believe Stu mentioned) in all sizes and magnitude.
The duck was rather wet (obviously) and a little trickey and the cofin levels were finely sculptured a magnificent memorial to the miners. Comming out of the manhole in the kids playground was something else and to cap it all it was a fine warm evening in March. A grand way to spend a wednesday night, Excellent company on an excellent trip, thanks for sorting it Keith B)

About

There are many club organised caving weekends, with a mixture of easy and difficult caving.  Over the past few years we have given lots of people the opportunity to experience caving with our "Try Caving" events.  These are quite popular and quite a few people have subsequently joined the club. We have YSS members caving most weekends so it is easy for new cavers to tag onto the easier caving trips and find people to help with more training.
