Colum was taking a group caving for the day so I tagged on as I had the day off. :)
Went up into the upper west passage - had the lads route finding - basically going round and round to point where they had caught me up as I was at the back- they eventually found the way back out.
Headed to Base Camp Chamber where Colum and me climbed up and rigged a ladder and life line so the group could enjoy the thrills of a ladder climb, quick traverse over to the streamway and followed up to the back end of the sump. Reversed back and headed to Garlands by which time only one taker wanted to go down, I also zipped down retrieved a beer can (empty :( ) It appears that Carlsberg do do caving.
After that headed out in fantastic sunshine -also having a lights out navigation session on the way  .
Good day - saw bits of Giants you normally whizz by, and learnt a few interesting facts about the place from Colum.

Colum Walsh, Group of 8 from Grantham, James Finch
5 hours - no really 5 hours.

What do you mean it beats work??????? It is work. Infact if it wasn't for the odd can of Carlsberg on the way round I don't think I could handle five hours to get to Garlands

About

There are many club organised caving weekends, with a mixture of easy and difficult caving.  Over the past few years we have given lots of people the opportunity to experience caving with our "Try Caving" events.  These are quite popular and quite a few people have subsequently joined the club. We have YSS members caving most weekends so it is easy for new cavers to tag onto the easier caving trips and find people to help with more training.
